A letter to His Holiness The Dalai Lama
UK visit 2012.
The Rotherham Cultural Group which organises the Rotherham Diversity Festival each year has sent a letter to His Holiness The Dalai Lama, to ask for his blessings on peace, harmony and goodwill to all humanity in all cultures.
Two of the group’s aims and objectives in the constitution are:
* To promote Cultural Diversity as an integral part of Rotherham’s
identity.
* To work alongside with other organisations and individuals to build and develop
creative talent within the region.
The letter was written with the help from Lizzy Alageswaran, Principle Officer Community Arts and Marcus Hurcombe of Rotherham Youth Services, both of which work for the Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council. The letter was signed by the Culture Groups present chairman, Sameer Butt.
Mathew Green, a student from Rotherham College of Arts and Technology and also part of the youth services, has been given the honour to take the letter and present it to His Holiness. This will be done on Saturday 16th June 2012 in Manchester. Mathew and Marcus will both be travelling together to this event.
